Departure of Executive Director Colleen Janes

January 30th, 2026, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) – The Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP) extends its sincere appreciation to Colleen Janes for her seven-year tenure as Executive Director.

During her time with CCCEP, Colleen provided steady, strategic leadership and guided the Board through three strategic plans that strengthened CCCEP’s position as a national leader in continuing education accreditation for pharmacy professionals.

She led the development and implementation of updated Standards and Requirements for Accreditation, modernized the conference accreditation process, and introduced a structured needs assessment approach to identify learning opportunities for pharmacy professionals across Canada.

Colleen also oversaw major enhancements to CCCEP’s website and accreditation database, improving accessibility, efficiency, and user experience. Her commitment to strong relationships with education providers, regulators, and partners reinforced CCCEP’s reputation for collaboration and integrity.

The CCCEP Board of Directors extends its heartfelt gratitude to Colleen for her leadership and lasting contributions. We wish her every success in her next chapter.

Interim Leader Announcement

An executive search is currently underway for a new Executive Director. In the interim, the CCCEP Board of Directors are pleased to welcome Dr. Barbara Thomas in as the Interim Executive Director.

Dr. Thomas has spent many years in health care most recently as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist and Residency Coordinator at NL Health Services in St. John’s, NL. Dr. Thomas is an educator with Memorial University of NL in the Doctor of Psychology Program teaching Psychopharmacology and has previously held teaching appointments with the School of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Medicine (Discipline of Psychiatry) at Memorial. For many years she served on the CCCEP Board of Directors which included a Presidential term during her tenure with the Board.

I am honored to support CCCEP in this interim role” said Dr. Thomas. CCCEP’s President, Dr. Pamela Timanson, welcomed Dr. Thomas back to CCCEP, noting that “the Board is thrilled to have Dr. Thomas leading the organization through this time of transition”.
