Learning Objective Mapped Accreditation

The Learning Objective Mapped Accreditation process differs from CCCEP’s other accreditation processes, and is an enhanced accreditation process.

Current programs with learning objective mapped accreditation can be found here.

The Learning Objective Mapped Accreditation review process assesses the program against a set of predetermined learning objectives for the subject area, in addition to the review of the program for relevance to practice, quality of the learning experience, evidence-based content and absence of bias.

To be accredited, the program must address all of the identified learning objectives for the subject area.  Learning objective mapped programs are reviewed in two stages.  They are first reviewed as regular learning activity programs (stage 1) and then reviewed to ensure that the content of the program meets the pre-determined set of learning objectives for a subject area (stage 2).

The Learning Objective Mapped Accreditation process also differs from CCCEP’s Competency Mapped Certificate Accreditation in that there are no competencies identified that the program must be assessed against.

The Learning Objective Mapped Program Accreditation Policy can be found here.

Learning Objective Mapped Accreditation Program Areas

Learning Objective Mapped Accreditation is currently available for one program area – Pharmacy Manager Training.

CCCEP has a working group comprised of representatives from the 10 provincial regulatory authorities. This working group – the Needs Assessment Working Group (NAWG) – has been examining the priority needs for continuing professional development programs from the regulatory perspective. One priority that emerged over the past few years was that of pharmacy management. The NAWG developed desired learning outcomes for pharmacy managers that would address regulatory body perspectives for continuing education programs in this area. These learning outcomes can be found in the document titled “Learning Outcomes for Pharmacy Managers.”

Application Process

The accreditation process for a learning objective mapped program occurs in two stages.

The Stage 1 submission process is the same as for all new learning activity accreditation applications.  However, you should advise CCCEP at the time of the stage 1 application (via email to admin.assistant@cccep.ca) that you will be seeking Learning Objective Mapped Accreditation.  For details on the stage 1 application process please see the new learning activity submission page by clicking here

Once your Stage 1 accreditation process is complete, you will be asked to submit, via email, the Learning Objective Mapped Application Form to initiate the Stage 2 review process.  This application form contains the learning objectives and content against which your learning activity must be mapped. This application form is reviewed by an Expert Reviewer contracted by CCCEP, to determine if your activity fully or subtantially meets the required learning objectives.  You may download the Stage 2 Learning Objective Mapped Application  from the CCCEP Forms Page.  As changes to content are often required during the Stage 1 review process please do not complete or submit the Stage 2 application form until your Stage 1 process is complete.
